This scheme has been developed by Thanet District Council and is funded by the Environment Agency. The scheme focuses on the construction of new and improved coastal defences including the refacing of the concrete sea wall and extension of the existing concrete groyne.
The work will start on the 16th May for 16 weeks and consist of the following:
- Re-facing of concrete seawall – 200m in-situ concrete
- Raising height of existing groyne 30m in-situ concrete
- New wave overtopping wall at Marina Esplanade – 120m Precast Concrete to raise defences to a 1:200 year level of protection
- Highway Alterations at Marina Esplanade/Granville Marina
The estimated cost of the work is £900,000.
