This project involved repairs to the sea wall which was predicted to collapse in the next 3-5 years and consequently cause the loss of chalk fill that lies beneath the concrete apron and behind the sea wall along this 2km stretch of sea defence. There was a concern with the collapse of the sea wall at this point there would be a detrimental impact on the rest of the wall as it unravelled. The repairs were undertaken along with other repairs following damage caused by the Storm Eleanor in January 2018.
