In Pett Level, East Sussex, EKEP engineers undertook extensive repairs to an existing breastwork structure and timber groyne which protects several houses in the western-most cell on this frontage.
The existing breastwork piles were repaired where necessary and new greenheart timber planks were bolted to them in a herringbone style pattern allowing shingle to be retained behind the structure whilst preventing damage due to wave action. The timber groyne was repaired and planked and should aid retention of the shingle beach.
